Review on EZ Pro Beauty Dish Octagon Softbox 36" W/ Speedring For Elinchrom Monolights, Prolinca & BXRi Strobe Flash Light by Bill Lyons

Octabox modifiers are among my favorite and this one with it's umbrella-like design is faster to set up than those with individual rods and for that it's great. The first time you need to install the inner diffusor but after that initial one-time set up (which will take you about 5 minutes) this octa will be ready in less than two.That's the good stuff!Now for the not-so-good.1: This octabox will noticeably cool the temperature of your light. This is unfortunate - the light that comes through it is much bluer than the bare strobe or through any other modifier I own - so much so, that I am not able to use it in multiple light setups in conjunction with other lights and modifiers without a noticeable difference in color.For comparison I have about 12 other modifiers in my studio including softboxes, umbrellas, beauty dishes, and octaboxes all of various sizes and by various manufacturers - none of the other modifiers have a noticeable effect on the the color temperature of my strobes like this one does.See the image I uploaded which compares two Fotodiox Octaboxes the Pro (non-EZ) which takes longer to set up, but light color is usable, vs this item the Pro EZ (fast setup but unusable color temperature).I seriously contemplated sending it back, but the reason I went for the EZ set up (vs the much cheaper octabox with individual rods) is for the convenience of quick set-up and break down - I planned on taking it outside the studio and using it outdoors on location during the daytime.I'll have to see how badly it cools my subject in comparison to the background scene before making my final decision whether or not to keep it.** update **I finally used this outdoor (long after the return window has closed) and it was not good. I used it to fill a dark skinned model at the beach and it had a bluish purple effect on her skin when compared to the natural light from the sun. Therefore I downgraded to 1 star.2: READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. the image they use for this product might make you think it comes with an egg-crate mod (I thought it was included). but if you read the fine-print it says the egg-crate is available separately
