I've had an Oreck XL for 20 years now and I'm embarrassed to admit I've never changed a brush/belt. It didn't work properly for a while but I put it down to age and decided to see if it could be fixed so I did a little research. When I opened it, the strap that was whole was chewed up with a big hole. How the heck it never broke I don't know and the brush just looked sad so no wonder it didn't work well. The hardest part was tightening the new belt as it is taut and the brushroll is wooden just like the original. I checked it out and it looked like a brand new vacuum cleaner that glides smoothly like silk and really picks things up. I was so happy that I vacuumed the whole house and apologized to the vacuum cleaner for suffering so much all the time. :)
