I recently ordered and tested a Cobalt vertical cable from Louqe, a true PCIE Gen 4 vertical cable that works great with my 16 lane Gen 4 cable works BIOS. I figured I could save $30 by using a PCIE 4.0 LINKUP cable instead. Spoilers: I can't. Compared to the Louqe Cobalt, the signal transmitted through this LINKUP cable causes my display to stutter and the transmitted audio to hum, crackle and crackle. Gen 3 mode works fine when selected in the BIOS, but I bought this product because of the claimed support for Gen 4, not Gen 3. I even followed the 'tips' included in the package: clean contacts , reinstall and test again. If you have my configuration (see header) and want to use PCIE Gen 4 mode, don't expect this vertical cable to work for you.
