I use this on one side of my unfinished basement (and another piece of equipment on the other side). During normal operation, a slight blue glow comes from the power button. Until now it fills up every 5 days in summer. A small float valve rises as it fills and is used to sense when the tank is full. When full, the power button turns red and emits a continuous low beep. As I stand in front of the locked door to my basement, I don't hear this happening (even though there's no more noise down there). it, and it's constant, but not particularly loud. You basically have to remember to check it regularly. The water tank slides out easily, emptying is fairly easy but can be a bit finicky at times sliding it back in. The device will automatically turn off if the tank is pulled out during operation and will automatically resume operation when the tank is reinserted. As we get into late fall and winter, we'll see how well it works as it gets colder and the humidity changes. I'm not sure if there are several different modifications of this device. My model is FX-CS400A. Current images of the tank from sellers (as of September 23, 2021) are clear plastic with no lid and no small stand inside the tank for the float to rest on. My aquarium has a lightly tinted tank, a gray plastic lid, a small plastic stand inside the tank for the bottom of the float, and a white plastic float valve. For now the float seems to be working fine but I'm not sure if it has the ability to stick and overflow the tank or not.
