Review on Nellie's Wow Mop: Cordless, Light-Weight, and Rechargeable Cleaning Powerhouse by Angelica Boiter

The device works with LITTLE EFFORT, but the GASKETS are the WEAK link!

EDIT and downvoted June 2020. My floors are porcelain stoneware, somewhat smooth surface, but mostly slab-like porcelain stoneware with a noticeable grain. I had no idea how difficult it would be to clean them. In my previous home I used a basic steam mop on smooth tile floors but it doesn't work well on these floors due to the grit/grooves. I tried using a Shark with a smooth floor nozzle and wet pads but injured my hand. So I bought Nelly, despite the high price and relative newness of the product. I also received a bottle of concentrated no-rinse cleanser (mixed with distilled water). PRO: Nellie is so QUIET for a motorized device. The stick is strong and attaches to the base forming a strong but very manoeuvrable joint. I can easily get under furniture. It glides easily even when working against the fibers of the tile. The pads are slightly oversized to prevent damage to the floorboards. The liquid is sprayed in a nice fan that covers the entire width of the head. I like that it turns off automatically when the wand is held upright. With little effort and one load, I cleaned all tile floors and kitchen anti-fatigue rugs in 30 minutes and one load. I have washed the pads by hand and also in the washing machine. I think the device would be a good choice for people with disabilities. CONS: I found that NELLIE PADS ONLY MOVE THE DIRTY SOLUTION WITHOUT ABSORBING IT. So I tried using pads from my Shark instead of Nelly's and you can see in the photos how effective they are. They don't slide as well as Nellie pads, but that's because Nellie pads are very synthetic and don't absorb much. The blue side cleans well but doesn't soak up! PHOTOS: The photo with the 2 types of pads was taken after I painted the lobby and patio entrance with Nellie pads and then Shark pads. The dirt on the Shark pads was all that was NOT absorbed by the Nellie pads. In the second photo, the entrance to the garage through our laundry, which is where they go most often. I've also found that pre-wetting the soil with plain water from a spray bottle and using less solution helps a lot. Today the charging indicator stopped working so I don't know if that means it's not charging or what. I'm still concerned about reliability, so I'll update this review if anything changes in that regard. I still recommend this unit but for the money I think they should offer pads that really absorb grout for a dirty floor.
