I've been soldering since 1957 when I worked for Pacific Phone in San Francisco. I know how to solder. and unsolder. Used 3 of these today on my 70's Cadillac Eldorado from the driver's door to the body belt. GM made a major design mistake when they designed this part of the car. As each door is opened, the copper wires in the bundle are bent at an angle of nearly 90 degrees. Well, in 50 years these wires started breaking due to metal fatigue. So I fix the wiring by putting in a very flexible 2" wire when all the old copper wires are broken or about to break. cramped workplace. I could choose shrink wrap and my soldering station. Instead, these self-soldering butt connectors worked just fine. shiny surface. I roughed up the 1/4" stripped rear ends and inserted the ends with new 500+ strand tinned silicone wire. on all sides of the connector. Looks like it's all going to melt, but it's not. It's clear so you can see the solder flow. All in all a great connector. I'll be back with before and after photos. :)
