They were much better than expected! We needed new bar stools for our kitchen counter as the large comfortable stools from Raymore & Flannigan were literally falling apart after years of use. I'm so glad I chose them! That's about $90 for a chair, which is a lot. They are made of metal, look high-quality, quite durable and even swivel. Also, the bonus part is that you can also use them as regular dining chairs if you don't add extensions. They are pretty comfortable in terms of bar stools. I'm curious how long the pillow will last as it's not very thick. Time will tell I guess. We've been using them for about a week now and they're still great for our purposes. It's also great because there's nowhere for crumbs to get stuck, making it easy to clean up. A few cons: 1) Instructions could be a bit clearer to save time trying it out. They never differentiate between screw sizes, so many deductions have to be made. But once you understand this, everything will quickly pass. It only took me 20-30 minutes to assemble the second chair after assembling the first one in about an hour. 2) Use a small ratchet (or screwdriver) with one of these torx sockets instead of the hex wrench that comes with the kit. If you use a wrench it will take you 10 years to put this together because if you just stick your feet in you can get a 1/4 turn before you have to reset the wrench to turn it again. The ratchet worked wonders and saved a lot of time!3) A real bar stool. That may be because I'm used to the comfy sofas we had, but don't expect much support beyond the backrest. The seats are literally little bar stools with a nice backrest. If you spend a lot of time where you use them, you might want to invest in something with a wider base and armrests. The seat seems too small for a tall person. 4) The surface is easy to scratch/chip. I used a wrench to push one of the holes on the back closer to the back to get the screw in (but turns out I didn't have to do that as all the screws went in automatically so it was up to me) and it just peeled off a decent 1/4 inch piece of fairing down to bare metal when pushed. There was also a slight trace of wear on one of the wooden spines. if that were the case. But I just used a colored wood putty knife that you use on floors that were the same color and it worked great on both stains and you can't even see it. Also, I'd rather have chips in the finish with a more rustic look than tears in the fabric that I have to tape over (like my latest chairs) lol! All in all a good buy!
