Pros:* Small (full-height mount on half-height board)* Inexpensive (equivalent boards can cost four times as much)* PCIexpress 1x slot (small, neat, slot compatible with most modern motherboards)* The 4-port drop cable doesn't allow for another slot on the back (I could put one in any PCIe slot)* Each DB-9M slot is port numbered from 1 to 4 * No drivers or compilation required on modern Linux operating systems (Fedora 13 in my case)* Works reliably with the following devices: Kantronics KPC3+ Packet TNC, LaCrosse 2300 Weather Station, CyberPower PP1100VA UPS* DMA modes are present if needed (I don't have rate) Disadvantages: * I can't think of any! Despite some concerns and reports on other product review sites that it might not come out of the box or require a driver modification (which I could do, I'm a Linux kernel expert), I was happy that it worked reliably o out of the box with it a standard Linux kernel (Fedora 13). I am completely satisfied.
