I will be returning it. Only day 3 maybe 10 hours of use and I can't remember if it was that loud from day one but now it's unbearable. The fan is so loud. I thought my DCLT3600 pump was loud, but that's not all. It's an incessant hum/hum at top speed (necessary for my temp). At maximum fan speed under gaming load, the temperature of my Samsung 970 EVO fluctuated around 51-55°C. Using only the original Asus heatsink/thermal pad, temperatures exceeded 65C, which was unacceptable. However, using the original heatsink and placing a 120mm fan above my case to move air around the entire board brought the temperatures down to <40C. I guess I just need to move some fans and get this device back. While this heatsink lowers it a good 10 degrees, it doesn't get enough airflow through the fins to provide the cooling I need. However, considering the size of this device, I didn't expect more performance. However, the fact that I need the fan at maximum speed to get that minimum output, which then sounds like a blower, means I have to disassemble and send back this loud, sub-par beast. YMMV: My sffpc-MB orientation is reversed, meaning M .2 placement on top where hot air collects. I also need more airflow in my case and some other reviewers have noted better performance. That's probably all you need, but if your tempos are over the limit it probably won't be enough (at least not for the amount of noise this thing makes).
