Better than no heatsink just slightly better than the stock Asus heatsink

I bought this to replace the heatsink that came with my Asus Dark Hero MB to cool my Samsung 980 Pro M2, to see if I can reset the peak temperature from 60 to 60 degrees. What I can say for sure is that it's no worse than the heatsink that came with my MB, but not much better either. I think the thermal performance of my case is such that even the best heatsink only has a 1-2 degree difference, heats up a little slower and cools down a little faster. Here's what happened here in my test. The…

Reduces temperature while gaming

I recently upgraded to a Samsung 970 EVO Plus and the operating/standby temperature was 42-44°C idle/light applications. When used while gaming, the maximum temperature was around 65°C. With this heatsink, the temperature dropped to around 39-42°C during operation and idle, but never exceeded 50°C during gaming. To do this, you absolutely have to adjust the fan settings in the BIOS. I've had voltages ranging from 6 volts at 39C to 12 volts at 48C. Installation was fairly easy, but the…

Looks Good: Computers and accessories

Nice m.2 heatsink/drive cover, the fan is quiet, I can't even hear it dropping the temp. I finally managed to buy the PCIe m.2 drive I've been dreaming of for a long time and I wanted it to look good in my case so I bought this cover. Did it have a nick on one corner like it had been dropped or hit by something? It's not very noticeable, but it's there, so it's not a problem as it doesn't affect how the cooling works. I wanted to mention those who might not have noticed. Take a good look at…

Disgusting fan, not cool enough.

I will be returning it. Only day 3 maybe 10 hours of use and I can't remember if it was that loud from day one but now it's unbearable. The fan is so loud. I thought my DCLT3600 pump was loud, but that's not all. It's an incessant hum/hum at top speed (necessary for my temp). At maximum fan speed under gaming load, the temperature of my Samsung 970 EVO fluctuated around 51-55°C. Using only the original Asus heatsink/thermal pad, temperatures exceeded 65C, which was unacceptable. However, using…
