I bought this to replace the heatsink that came with my Asus Dark Hero MB to cool my Samsung 980 Pro M2, to see if I can reset the peak temperature from 60 to 60 degrees. I recently upgraded to a Samsung 970 EVO Plus and the operating/standby temperature was 42-44°C idle/light applications. When used while gaming, the maximum temperature was around 65°C. With this heatsink, the temperature dropped to around 39-42°C during operation and idle, but never exceeded 50°C during gaming. To do this, you absolutely have to adjust the fan settings in the BIOS.
