Update: My third one just stopped working after 7 months of intermittent use. The knife's upper blade was still spinning, but the lower wheel was still - and this resulted in the entire rim of the can being littered with metal splinters. Two of them cut my fingers. I ended up using this brand. I had two of these and initially they worked very well - probably the best way to open cans - when they were new. The first lasted 13 months before the cutting blade stopped cutting through the cans. The second lasted 17 months before the same thing happened. The cutting wheel seemed to be worn out and could no longer reliably cut through the can. Apparently, the cutting disc can be easily replaced, but you can't buy it - there are no spare parts for it. Every week we open two or three banks. They need to last longer or we can get replacement blades for them. Be that as it may, a perfectly good can opener with worn out cutting blades ends up in the garbage because the manufacturer does not sell replacement parts. I think it should be rejected. Hamilton Beach should do the right thing and sell a replacement blade kit so it's not going to be thrown away anytime soon.
