This is the second time I order EZE LAP pocket stones. They have lasted longer than other retail diamonds. The metal base is more stable. The original ones I ordered had a smooth leather case. Newer ones have a fibrous leather cover that looks like cloth. I'm not a fan of new leather because I use the scabbard as a belt to get a thin edge on the knife. Honing oil has no effect on this sheath. The product comes as advertised and is the perfect sharpening tool. Hope that helps.
