Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Dorman 924-810 Center Console Latch - Ideal for Chevrolet / GMC Model Selection by Wendell Chapman

Works and looks pretty good

The latch on my center console broke over a few years ago. It's very rare that I have to use the front center seat, so it wasn't a big deal. My previous attempt to purchase this part was unsuccessful. To replace a defective bolt, you must first loosen the 4 torx screws. You will also need a long flat head screwdriver to insert the locking pins between the upper and lower console panels. See attached picture from above. Start at the top, near the latch, first to the left and then to the right of the latch. Once you've slid the two closest to the latch, insert a long screwdriver where the top and bottom plates appear to meet and insert the third by twisting the screwdriver while holding it close to the press pen. Same process for the rest. Replacing a broken latch with a new one is easy. You need a Phillips screwdriver. Before proceeding to the next step (connecting the top and bottom panels), make sure the console is attached. When assembling the top and bottom of the console, align the panels with the torx screw holes, first tighten all the torx screws slightly, then fully tighten the screws. Some pins will reset and lock themselves. For me, some contacts were not yet completely blocked. Grasp the top and bottom of the console cover with both hands and gently push on the top and bottom where the pins meet and they snap into place quickly. I can't believe I waited this long to fix this.
