I needed this special square for leather work. When assembling items like wallets and phone cases, I need to glue multiple layers together, and I need to align them with at least two edges when placing and laying out the pieces. This little square works perfectly and is the right size for the job without being overbearing. After receiving mine I wiped them down with hot soapy water to remove the manufacturing and shipping oil and then applied a very thin coat of foot oil to make them skin friendly. It's made out of solid steel and is more than accurate enough for my purposes, and the beveled edge keeps anything from lagging behind.
