We bought colored gravel and a "sculpture" with three flat stones, one lying like a bridge over two others standing on the edge. This gives our fish a choice of where to hide, play and sleep. He is happy in this big aquarium! As an additional decoration, we added some artificial underwater vegetation. It has a variety of routes that you can swim during the day. We think he really likes his house. We had to take the female out after he bit off part of her lower fin. The plan is to find her a non-fighting mate. We will use a two gallon aquarium for them and place the male in the large vase that the female is currently in. Of course, we pump bubbles into both so that they are saturated with oxygen. The seller pointed out that these bettas are "puddle jumping" and are used to small muddy pools. Therefore we only clean aquariums for our own aesthetic pleasure and not every week. We change a lot of water and change it every week. This tank stays clean, looks great! Highly recommended.
