I used this product to fill a red oak floor after sanding. This product mixes with water to form a putty that is applied to fill open wood pores and gaps between wood planks. Over the years the wood has dried and shrunk leaving some gaps between the planks. Freshly sanded wood absorbs moisture from the putty and expands. During the curing process, the putty shrinks, and as the water evaporates, the wood shrinks. That's the problem. If you go back and putty again, it repeats the same process and you can only "close" fill the gaps between the boards and not fill the cracks very reliably. As a grain filler, the product works by filling cracks, but not by much. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose a product that wasn't water based and didn't shrink. That was my experience, ymmv.
