Why do I wake up and feel like I'm 10,000 feet tall? My wife says I snore and I say she dreams about snoring! One way to solve this problem is to see how much oxygen my body is getting while I'm sleeping and how hard my heart has to work to get it to all the important parts. The EMO-80 Bluetooth Pulse Oximeter offers just that at a very affordable price. The EMO-80 measures oxygen saturation: the ratio of oxygenated to deoxygenated blood. This is done by shining a red light through one of your fingers. There are no holes in the body. At the same time, it measures the heart rate. More importantly, it records its readings every second for up to 40 hours (3 or 4 nights of sleep) and quickly streams those readings to my phone in the morning. When I want to capture a night's sleep, I do the following: 1) turn on the pulse ox, 2) place it on my finger, 3) wrap masking tape around it and my hand to keep it on all night. It displays its readings on a bright OLED screen for about a minute, then turns itself off so as not to disturb you while you sleep. When I wake up, I relax, remove my finger, and launch the EMAY app on my iPhone (it claims to work on Android too). With Pulse Ox on, I press a button on the app and in less than a minute it downloads overnight data to my phone for viewing in a handy graph. I can see the percentage of all oxygen readings that fell below the adjustable limit, and it shows the minimum/maximum heart rate and oxygen saturation. On the chart, I can flip through my night minute by minute, see where the cat jumped on my chest (heart rate up to 130!) and see when I can struggle - even snore - if my O2 drops a little. too low. Once I download the data to my phone, I can clear the pulseox's memory and it's ready for more recording. It really couldn't be easier. Two AA batteries (included) last for about 5 full nights of recording. If I want to share data with my doctor, I can create a PDF file and email her and print a copy for myself. She suggested some changes to improve my sleep and it worked. No sleep study required! Of course, you can use it during the day, although the instructions warn that direct sunlight can affect readings. The rest is common sense: don't swim with it, etc. You can't hurt yourself (or your cat) by taking readings overnight. But if you find something that worries you, don't hurt yourself by worrying about it. call the doctor And of course, don't make any changes to your healthcare on your own. This is a good product - it does what it promises. I was expecting it to be double what it costs. The pulse rate seems accurate, but I can't confirm the accuracy of the oxygen thing. I like it, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I really can't find anything to complain about other than all the cat jumping. And we're working on it.
