They're better than the ones you "flick" down the sides of your toilet, because when you need to clean them (and believe me, you still want to clean them with one of those self-cleaning products from time to time) You end up wiping the gel off and then having to apply a new one and literally flush a few bucks down the toilet. They stay in place, last a long time and have a nice clean scent. They keep my toilets clean between cleaning days and I haven't seen that horrible ringing sound you hear in less frequently used toilets since I started using them.
