A small portion of the outer shell of the tee on my high temp stainless steel chimney came loose, the insulation cracked and spilled. When I realized that NFPA regulations required me to replace the entire chimney because the manufacturer had gone out of business and I couldn't just replace the "tee" with another brand, I figured I'd at least try to replace the insulation and repair the loosened outer portion of the tee. After the repair I tested the part with an increasingly hot 3 day fire. The repaired part was cool to the touch while my existing pipe was warm to the touch even after activating the catalytic combustor, which reached 1400 degrees, I was impressed. The 1 inch quilt was easy to work with, easy to cut with the included knife, and you can use standard felt tip pens to line up your patterns. The thickness matched the insulated section of my 8" GSW pipe perfectly and it saved me a small fortune.
