Replacing the old strainer with SoLID Sink Strainer is a small upgrade at minimal cost. I just installed a twin set and love the look. I can't confirm they don't rust, the material is pretty flimsy. I prefer the new set to be flush with the sink surface. The mesh kit has been placed slightly higher, allowing food to flow underneath. With so many hours spent in the kitchen, it's the little things that make cooking and cleaning that little bit more enjoyable. Without a chute and septic tank, it is best to prevent food from entering the sewer system, keep the pipes clean and not clog them. I will update if there is any sign of rust.
