Works very well and very strong for its size.
I bought this to make an anti-theft device that works very well. I can get a very strong draw from it with 4 AA batteries going beyond that 12 volts. This is a good device for line propulsion. It does not retract by itself, but can be activated by reversing the polarity of the wires. My configuration uses a power transistor to trigger it with a magnetic switch used in alarm systems.
