The first AVR came with a large capacitor on the back that was mounted askew so it bumped against the alternator housing and could not be screwed into the housing. I figured it was probably a manufacturing defect and an accident so I ordered the same item as a replacement and I was right the replacement was assembled correctly. Please note: The blue wire is + and is installed on the left side of the brushes, the terminal is closest to the anchor. Unfortunately the voltage setting was far away, only 200v I believe, I had to turn the setting potentiometer 12 full turns to get 240/122v. Note 2) You have to turn the screw counter-clockwise to increase the tension, the opposite of what I've seen in other posts. I've only tested at 1500 watts so I'm really hoping that will hold up if needed. I'll try a different brand next time, although I tend to think they're all made the same way.
