great little set. Ordered for my son's 7th birthday. He saw a free magic show in the library and of course the magician mentioned that he could be hired for birthday parties and so of course my son now wishes he had a magician. I explained to him that if I paid the magician we wouldn't have money for pizza, piñata, cake, etc., so we agreed that he would get the magic set and put on his own show for his guests. . Well in the end Liam the Magnificent enjoyed being a wizard even more because he can keep a set and use it whenever he wants but not only can perform tricks but really likes to understand how they work, and he comes up with me. Ideas for new tricks after understanding the idea of how things are done. His 9 year old sister loves them and even my friends older kids thought they were cool. A set of broken pencils at the highest level! So good, in fact, I thought I accidentally pushed too far and actually broke the pin when we first did this trick. The instructions are ok they could be better, usually I have to read them and then show him how to do the trick and some of the instructions I had to follow while doing the trick and making some wrong turns. You definitely need to practice each trick once or twice to make sure you know how it works and that young children will NOT understand it unaided, even if they are good readers. What I LOVE about the instructions is that they give advice on how to change the trick, for example the disappearing box gives the basic disappearing coins trick but then suggests filling the compartment with candy beforehand and your friends a slice to let take; However, they also claim that there are so many tricks in the set, each with multiple variations. I bought this set because the reviews said it does not depend on a light hand for a young man with short pinky fingers to do tricks (no palming). The plastic pieces that make up all the tricks seem solid, the only thing that might be a problem is the magic "flower" because it's made of green and red feathers. So far it's intact, but I can see little fluffy bits falling out if it gets overpowered, not whole feathers lost, just bits of the fluff that makes them up (if you've ever had a cheap Halloween feather boa, you know see what I mean). In general, I'm happy with the kit, and the price and number of tricks in it are just great! I think someone really thought of this set to pick tricks that are easy enough for a kid, yet whimsical enough to impress. And while it's not 350 tricks, not even 35, it's enough for a fun trick show.
