Great for scooping pasta out of water

When I saw various cooks using a wire spider instead of pouring out the whole pot of water, a light went on. The best way to get delicate filled pasta like tortellini or ravioli and larger shapes like penne or cavatappi is from the boiling water, not to mention the steam bath. Not as successful with long, thin items like spaghetti and linguine, but there's always a strainer for that.
