I am a gourmet chef who also likes to cook at home every night. I have had several spiders in my time but this is by far the best. It's so versatile, holds the pasta and drains it so well when you take it out of the pot. Now I can get rid of the rest, this one gets a gold star. I like the handle too. It's cool to the touch and doesn't get hot, so you can't scald yourself with hot water.

I bought this to steam various foods in my deep pot and it works great. Very durable, my husband was pleased to see that I bought it and enjoy using it for Asian cooking. It has many versatile uses. and i like that i can hang it on my deep pot which is very easy to lift. The handle doesn't get hot at all. Highly recommended, anyone considering purchasing won't be disappointed.

When I saw various cooks using a wire spider instead of pouring out the whole pot of water, a light went on. The best way to get delicate filled pasta like tortellini or ravioli and larger shapes like penne or cavatappi is from the boiling water, not to mention the steam bath. Not as successful with long, thin items like spaghetti and linguine, but there's always a strainer for that.

This colander is a great tool when you're cooking pasta or noodles. It works very well and has a very good build quality. However, this product is not easy to use. Firstly, you need a very, very deep pan as the handle is very long and can be a little tricky to clean. Most filters are difficult to clean, so there's nothing you can do about it. If I were to buy this again I would definitely buy a deeper container.

I agree with other comments that it's a bit big and if you're just cooking in a 2-3 liter pot about a portion at a time Cooking noodles, it might be too big. I'll see when the weather gets warmer, I'll go to the kitchen utensil store in town and see if I can find a similar but much smaller one. Overall a good quality bucket and of course well packaged and fast shipping from Revain. So I still give 5 stars for quality and service.
