Review on Kootek Double & Single Portable Camping Hammocks with 2 Hanging Ropes - Lightweight Nylon Parachute Hammocks for Backpacking, Travel, Beach, Backyard, Hiking by Rubeen Black

Excellent hammock (so far), especially at such a price

Before I talk about the special features of this hammock, I want to pay attention to what one of the top (current) reviews says: "Wrong shape! a simple rectangle of fabric folded into a pile and gathered at the ends. This means the sides are taller and much tighter than the middle. You CANNOT lie flat if you are perpendicular to the ropes. "I can only assume that this reviewer has no experience with hammocks. This is absolutely the right shape for a hammock with constructions like this product and most camping hammocks on the market. You can lie perfectly flat in this type of hammock, just i've had a few different hammocks over the years, from nameless brands to more well known ones like ENO, and this product is pretty much the same shape as any other open ended hammock i've seen, my thoughts on this product in particular I've only had this hammock for a few days so can't say much about the durability but the quality seems pretty good All seams are triple stitched except for the hem around the edges of the side panels and where the pocket is attached ( which is good as those seams don't need to be super strong) The fabric is a little thinner than some other hammocks I've had, but r it seems to be rich rocky (and I'm a pretty big guy). I've had a catastrophic hammock break during a hike before, so I'm very careful about it. But other than trying to break the new hammock. seems to be OK. As for comfort. This is a hammock. There's not much of a difference between one and the other (at least until you start looking for more expensive ones that have features like double layers so you can put in a pad). However, this one is pretty handy. It's wide enough to lie flat without your legs dangling to the side. I've always thought of hammocks as single no matter how they're advertised, but this one is definitely big enough to fit two people (although I can't tell how comfortable). Overall I am very happy with this product, especially for the price. My only words of caution are that you recommend buying some straps rather than relying on the ropes that come with this hammock and paying special attention to the knots that attach the hammock to the carabiners when you use it set up for the first time. . The knots on mine were very loose, the rope wrapped around the carabiners rather than tied alone. It only took me a few minutes to get dressed and tighten the knots on each end of the hammock, but if I hadn't I probably would have sat on the ground the first time I tried to climb into the hammock. I will update this review with any issues with this hammock but so far this seems like a really great hammock for the price.
