First impressions I took a chance and bought this cheaper gauge set. I'm happy with that. Connections are a little tricky, especially the high side. But they connect and separate. You just have to work on them a little. The valves are all of good quality, as are the pressure gauges. It's good to have 4 hoses and valves, although it's not necessary. The yellow one has a drain valve on top - good. Pressure gauges also read negative to measure vacuum. Very handy to check if the vacuum is holding (make sure there are no leaks before loading). I actually left all of the valves open and there were no leaks, meaning all of the ports held a vacuum as well. So they seal well. It comes with all sorts of adapters and I was able to make all the necessary connections including the vacuum pump I bought. It was especially nice not to spend hundreds on a set like this. Update after about a month of use: I've used this a few times while working on my '92 Corvette. The air conditioning finally works and blows icy air. However, unlike at the beginning of the project (almost complete overhaul of the air conditioning), it seemed that the upper side dial was no longer displayed. I thought maybe it could be an upgraded r134a adapter on the car, maybe the valve wasn't letting coolant through for the gauge to read. So I decided to test it out on my 2015 Silverado. This truck is practically new and comes with R134a from the factory, so it has the correct and good quality fittings. Again, I had trouble connecting the ports, particularly the port on the top. Finally he got up. Although the sensor was working correctly. Then it was time to unplug it and I couldn't unplug it. I battled this for about half an hour and got a bit panicked because this truck is still under warranty and is my daily driver. I can't plug it in. Eventually, with the help of channel locking pliers, it miraculously came loose after a little twist, twist, and force. I don't know where this sensor set is made as I can't find this information anywhere on this website or on the product itself. Nowadays I am suspicious of Chinese products. I can't say the quality of it is bad, but the connectors really bother me. I think that with a set of good quality connectors there will be no such problems. I have not contacted Orion Motor Tech regarding this as I am not sure I would want a replacement plug as I am unsure of the quality of the actual plugs and as they bolt on I may be looking for a quality pair. to buy plugs elsewhere. I have used plastic connectors on lenses before and have never had this problem. With cheap plastic plugs. Really the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the problems I had with the high side connector in the first place and the fact that it was stuck on my truck was quite annoying. If this set had better connectors I would recommend it to anyone all day long. However, I'm happy to recommend it as a lower cost alternative to the Pro kit, and a person can buy a higher quality connector kit for it, as I most likely will.
