Review on 🐠 Seachem Fluorite Black Sand Substrate: A Premium 7.7lb Aquarium Essential by Ashley Wood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Florite has been around for decades

What I like about Florite is that it's made from small pieces of baked red clay. It is an excellent chemically inert substrate for plants of all types and sizes. Whether your plants are aquatic, hydroponic, or above ground, you'll find they perform well. Also for cacti. Florite comes in several varieties and colors. If you have smaller, more delicate young plants, consider using sand. For everything else, use the original larger Florite. * note. Before using flower sacks in your projects, pour them into a 5 gallon bucket and rinse the outside of the substrate with a garden hose. Agitate the substrate frequently in the bucket and keep rinsing until it runs completely clear after mixing. You must do this to wash the fine powdery dust from the florite that is rubbing together in the bag. When applied directly without rinsing, a cloud of clay dust may form and settle in the water for several days to a week or more.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I won't say anything
