If you want a room to be lit with real daylight, these bulbs work great. If there is another incandescent lamp in the same room, or even warm light from a lamp, there will be a sharp color contrast. For a family room that you use before bed, I don't recommend this type of daylight as the color temperature makes a big difference when you wake up. I have used them in the formal living room we use for parties and they are amazing. I would also recommend them for the kitchen. The amount of light they emit is more than I expected. At first I was afraid I would have to put 2 more glasses in the room as I had placed them 8ft apart but this turned out to be perfect and very brightly lit. My intuition says that despite the 75 watt rating, they're more like a 100 watt incandescent bulb. Haven't tried the dimmer yet but plan to install one later.
