This unit sounds good. I needed a volume control for my setup. This offers a volume control along with XLR in and out and without the need for a power supply (hence the word 'passive' in the description. If it needed power it would be 'active'.) I say, it seems to sound ok because it is connected to my desktop sound system (Sony Sub, left and Altec Lansing right). I haven't tried it on a "big and expensive" system. Would have gotten 5 stars but had to destroy the first block to free one of my cables from the XLR input on the right. Literally - had to use pliers. Unfortunately, EXACTLY the same thing happened in the second block. Maybe this is a production problem of this device, maybe it's my cable. Your mileage may vary. This time I will not try to free the cable. The installation is running.
