I bought this to replace the fan that was on my standalone H80i water cooler for my CPU. The fans sounded a lot like a vacuum as they started spinning to cool the CPU. It should be loud enough to be very distracting while gaming or even just idling. After installing this fan (there are two of them, now I will buy another one to replace the second one) I can already notice a big difference in the sound. When it picks up speed, it no longer sounds like a clockwork motor. The rubber corners also help by reducing vibrations of both the case and the heatsink to which they are attached. Even at full speed, they're quieter than the old original fans, and I didn't notice any rise in temperature with various load programs. old fans.
