I bought this to replace the fan that was on my standalone H80i water cooler for my CPU. The fans sounded a lot like a vacuum as they started spinning to cool the CPU. It should be loud enough to be very distracting while gaming or even just idling. Contacted Noctua about my new fan and what turned out to be a violation of factory quality control. They replied with apologies that didn't help and certainly didn't solve anything. Installs two NF-S12A PWM as intake and exhaust fans. These are the ones that are optimized for airflow. Once you set the correct fan profile in the BIOS, they run almost silently and offer excellent airflow. My computer originally came with only an exhaust fan and nothing else.
