It won't stop the leak on its own, but if you put an O-ring on the part that goes through the block, the leak will stop leak. The O-ring presses against the block and the outside edge of the piston. The sealing ring must be visible after installation. You need to remove the ERG valve and when inserting the connector, press the center until the intermediate lip snaps into place. I did this on a 2004 Honda Civic.
