Feels premium and the plastic storage box is of surprisingly good quality. The software comes on a CD-R which I have no problems with. I'd rather pay for a product than release professional software CDs, especially since most people would probably choose to download the software rather than play around with the CD that comes with it. I will not use the manufacturer's software and had no intention of downloading or installing it. The manual defines a simple serial protocol that can be used to interact with it, either with specific software or with a terminal program (like Hyperterminal or Putty). I contacted the manufacturer to find out the baud rate is 38400 before realizing it's printed elsewhere in the manual. The manufacturer responded quickly to the requested information. Note that the "l" command specifies the current value but does not specify the current mode. The "x" command turns on the current reading and mode, which is more useful for my application. I am very happy with this purchase and glad I went with the cheaper option. Five stars without reservation. My only suggestion for improvement is USB charging. They include an AC adapter and the battery seems to last a very long time, but according to the manual it looks like the USB interface is for data only and the AC adapter is needed for charging. I would rather not compete with this adapter and will generally use it with a USB port. However, it's okay.
