I bought this rubber band for a dual tailgate. This worked well when the gate was in a vertical position, but when the gate was lowered to a horizontal position the rubber stretched and didn't seem very strong. It really was made for the hood of a car, which wasn't supposed to hold up. any weight. I ended up buying a metal toggle switch, part number LT-431, which fit perfectly and worked great. Experiments cost money, just live and learn.
