Update ::: I need to update my review. I've tried using the bowls a fourth time after washing and they still leave that black5 oily residue on my hands. No idea what's going on, but don't buy it! # was looking for a mixer when I came across this set. I could use bowls so I figured it would be a good deal. The shells are large and durable. However, although I washed the bowls before using them, I found that the oily black chemical was under the rim of all the bowls and ran off my hands when using the bowls. I had to wash them twice more to get rid of them. Not sure what it was or if it's ok to oil the shells lol. You haven't the faintest idea. The blender is terrible. So small and struggles to mix things up and it's noisy. I've used it to mix cake batter and once in the batter it slowed down significantly even at top speed. Even after using it twice, the blender gave off that horrible smell of smoke. Not sure if I should reuse it or just write it off as a loss. So if you are looking for beautiful bowls and measuring cups, then this set is for you. But if, like me, you mainly need a blender, I would choose a different one.
