Okay, I'm not just old school, I'm old. But when they first hit stores in the early '70s, they specifically demonstrated (in an animated film) how the first of the two blades cut through most of the mustache, pulling it a little out of the skin. The second blade then cuts it below the skin line before the mustache can spring back. There is no better shave than below the skin line. Despite all 3, 4, 5 or so many blades they currently have, you still won't be able to get below the skin line. (For the record, my dad, RIP, used safety razors and swore they were better than these, and my grandfather used straight razors and swore they were better than fuses.)
