These are high quality quick release pins. Unfortunately the "effective length" in the description is wrong. I first ordered 2" overall length pins with a listed effective length of 1.57". As shown in my drawing #2, the correct maximum effective length is about 1.25 inches. I then ordered 3" overall length pins with a stated effective length of 2.4". As shown in my drawing #1, the correct maximum effective length is about 2 inches. This worked great for me, so I'm happy! The maximum effective length is as shown in the pictures: the spring is fully compressed, AND the cam is free to rotate to the locked position. The minimum effective length is about 1/2" less than the maximum and is determined by the spring range. You need a spring to provide resistance or the cam will spin freely and the pin will come out in length while maintaining the Spring force to hold the cam in the locked position.
