I bought this 5 months ago to use in the kitchen for a one time cook while I'm renovating my kitchen. On average I'd say I've probably used it 1-2 times a week during that time and it hasn't warmed up at all since last night so seems to have about 30 good uses. I used either a small skillet or small saucepan and it only heated to boil the water - it never fully boiled. When it reaches a certain temperature, it stops heating until it cools down a bit. I like roasting crispy veggies so that was a problem because they get pretty soft at the temperature and it takes significantly longer than a traditional burner. However, the burner itself has prevented me from using the communal kitchen on many occasions, for which I was grateful, so I can't throw it away entirely. It doesn't glitter or smell funny. I was wary of security when I first bought it, but it seems reasonable in that regard. I now have to buy a new burner and I have to say that I will not buy this one again.
