Moen apparently only guarantees the faucet distributor for life as they were more than happy to offer me a $60 replacement cartridge instead of a free cartridge for my 18 year old. beat. The plastic tube that came with it differs from my original cartridge in that it doesn't have an O-ring on the bottom. My side seals had holes in them, but the ones in the kit are solid. This is the kit that Moen says I will need, but they recommend I buy their cartridge instead. It all came back together on the brass stem with a little help from synthetic lube and patience with the plastic tubing so as not to damage the o-rings as they slide over the holes. Make sure the brass stem is flush with or slightly below the plastic grommet or you will never be able to reinstall the retaining clip into the faucet. The plastic nut removal tool worked great. Try rocking the nut back and forth while pulling out the cartridge. It unlocks in less than 30 seconds. All together, the crane works. No more drops.
