This is a decent alternative to a metal training collar. I recently adopted a 12 year old Border Collie mix who was never to taught to heel properly. Although she does't pull really hard at the end of the leash, I want her to walk a little better. I'm not being as strict with her as I would be with a dog I raised myself because well, she's 12 and has had a rough life. This Martingale collar gives me the teaching control over her to get her to not pull at all yet enjoy the walk together. It does not slip (loosen and tighten) as easily as a training color, but for my purposes this works fairly well. It's certainly well made and I expect it to last many, many years.
