Review on πŸ”‹ Kingston HyperX Impact 8GB DDR4 2666MHz CL15 SODIMM Laptop Memory (HX426S15IB2/8) by Joel Norfork

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Designed for 2666MHz, but runs at 3200MHz!

I'll comment on something I noticed about this DDR4 SODIMM, but please don't take it as a manufacturer's word. This is just my own experience with the RAM module and I don't promise yours will be the same. Before installing this module, I had another kit that ran at 3200MHz. I had to manually set it to 3200MHz in the BIOS because the XMP profile was not available on that other module. Anyway, after installing this, I booted into Windows and was surprised to see that this was also running at 3200MHz with CAS 20 latency. I didn't change anything in the BIOS when I replaced the RAM, so the old 3200MHz profile was passed to this one. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it runs at 3200MHz because the listing here says it's only rated for 2666MHz. Rarely do I buy a piece of tech only to find later that it performs even better than the advertised specs. It was a pleasant surprise. I ran several memory tests and all passed successfully. No problems, no errors. Just perfect. Again, I cannot promise that your experience will be the same. I'm just reporting how it went for me.

Pros

Cons
  • So far so good
