The first two photos of Kai are about 9-12 months old, the last one is today. This collar was a blessing when I first got it. My 1.5 year old black lab is darker than a shade, stealthy as a fox and quick as a rabbit! I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've looked for him in the garden, only to find that he's followed me everywhere, trying to help me "find" what I was looking for! He's a great dog because he knows not to leave the yard, but even at night I've always been nervous about letting him out just knowing that cars or even passers-by would never see him until he was less than a foot was away from me. away from them (and scaring them half to death) so I needed something to make it stand out. I first attached a headtorch to his daily collar, but when I found the LED options I gave it a try (the price was great and it's waterproof, thought it was an absolute win). In the beginning it was the perfect solution. The waterproofing seemed to hold up, the 3 settings (on, fast flash, slow flash) was a great feature too as the slow flash was more noticeable and allowed the battery to last at least a week without needing to be charged (and he used it for at least an hour or two every night). But it wasn't until about 2 months later that I noticed that one of the LEDs went out, although it's not that bad, it was still working. Then suddenly 3 more followed, but half of the collar still worked, and I thought this was quite enough. But then it got to the point where only 2 lights were working and I realized that she wasn't doing her job safely anymore. What's even more frustrating is that some LEDs randomly turn on and work again, then turn off again, and so on. But honestly, if it wasn't for that, this collar would have gotten 6++++ stars. From price to performance to durability (at first) I was in love with this piece. I have had many friends and strangers who would order them when they saw my dog with his. I'm not sure if I just got a bad one or not, but I'll probably try another brand just because there are so many out there now. Ps - of course, as soon as I wanted to photograph the collar, all the lights come on again for this review! You can't tell from the photo, but only the two closest to the charger are at full brightness, the rest are much dimmer in person and will be off by evening. But the photo shows that Kai is so dark that he needs one!
