Safety Concerns - A Mechanical Engineer's Perspective

After reading some other reviews I had to update mine. As a mechanical engineer with over 35 years of experience, I would like to make a few comments on the 440 listed on this stool. Weight capacity in pounds. If you pay attention, the company claims the stool was built to Acko standards. There is no mention of whether any of Acko's safety standards apply. It is not recommended that a company controls its own security standards. That's why there are agencies like Underwriter's Laboratories (UL). Act as an independent voice. As for the carrying capacity of 440 pounds. Most likely, this rating is known as static load capacity. This means the company carefully (emphasis on caution) slowly and carefully loaded 440lbs right into the center of the stool and spread the load across the surface of the step/seat. Add the added stress of a person placing a much more concentrated load (e.g. a foot) in a much smaller area and the Akko test becomes invalid. How long a load of 400 is held is not specified. To be honest, we're climbing up. the chair is completely different. We shift all our weight to one leg. Where our foot is placed is the main question. At the corner? In the middle of the handle? Most likely, this is a completely different scenario from the company's test. I weigh 220 pounds and agree with other 1 star users. I have noticed that the loops on the corners of the legs are loosening/loosening. And that, although only I was sitting on a stool. I've never trusted a chair enough to step on it. Now the chair is in the wastebasket (made of plastic, of course!). I recommend pulling this article from Revain.
