Contour guides are great tools to always have in your toolbox. I bought one from Home Depot with metal teeth which is great for showing detail but being metal it can scratch the surface of what you are contouring and the metal bars are very thin and easy to bend. There is no good way to protect it from damage. They are plastic and very forgiving. I love that they come in two sizes and that they lock so your outline is stable while you trace your shape. The fact that they're plastic and the individual pieces are wider than metal means you don't get as many pieces, but so far it's been more than enough for what I needed. I would recommend.
