Review on AUXLIGHT Golden Yellow H3 LED Fog Light DRL Bulbs - 3000 Lumens, Replacement Bulbs for Cars & Trucks, Extra Bright by Rod Evans

Revainrating 4 out of 5

PILOT brand fog lights have not established themselves well with them.

I had an old PILOT oval fog light that was new in the box in the mid 90's. I decided to install them on my Astro van and wanted to use LED instead of halogen. First, when installing the headlights, the rear end of the bulb stuck out so far that I couldn't install the fog light housing. In order for me to attach it I had to drill an access hole so it could stick out. Next, the blade alignment was wrong for my case. As you can see from the photos, the blade directs the light onto the top and bottom of the case. This is not good for an oval light source, I needed the blade to be vertical so the light is aimed left and right to hit the reflectors and shoot the beam out. At first I thought I just bought the wrong H3 LED. It turns out that the mounting ring on the H3 rotates (is that a word?) Nowhere in the description does it say the light blades can be rotated! I just accidentally shot it because I thought I had superhuman strength and could do it. Dude, I was surprised! Spare me more changes to make this work. I posted a video demonstrating this. Anyway, 4 stars because I missed the mention of the extra blade rotation detail, I almost threw it away (manual was not included). Second, there is no insulation on the connector, so use heat shrink tubing. hose over it after connecting. Finally, they are not "extremely bright" as stated in the product description. They're only yellow and good enough for my needs, they seem darker than the halogens I took out.

Pros
  • 180 degree 2 way lighting
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
