Great repair kit for a leaky faucet, but may require some assembly

First of all, this product is great for what it is - a set of frequently replaced parts for Frost free outdoor faucet price. I had two different models (neither of which I could identify by the model number) and this worked for both. The product is excellent value for money (especially when compared to replacing the entire unit or hiring a plumber) but can be difficult to install. One problem many people can have is that handles tend to corrode and are very difficult to remove. brass rod. No amount of hammer or penetrating oil could take the handle off - I had to cut mine off with a dremel with metal cutting discs. It requires some effort but is not technically difficult. Just be careful not to cut the brass rod in the handle. With the handle removed, the repair is very simple and straightforward. Simply replace existing parts with similar parts from the repair kit. This takes a minute or two, and the hardest part is pulling the washer/return hub over the edge of the channel (this is obvious when you look at it). The washer/sleeve is rubbery and stretchy, but it requires some force to snap into place due to the deliberately tight fit. I would also recommend applying silicone grease to the threads and washers. This helps prevent squeaks, prevents shims from sticking/wearing out, and can prevent the grips from rusting (I'll let you know in 5-7 years when I replace them again). I used Harvey's faucet and valve grease, but any plumber's grease will probably work. It took me about 20-30 minutes to swap them out, although most of the time was spent cutting off the handles.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
