I bought this mount for four reasons. First, I drive country roads that I build with GaiaGPS and I want to be able to follow them without having to consult a map or try to hold my phone while driving. Secondly, I didn't want to take off the Otterbox case to put the iPhoneX in the holder. In the event that the phone is lost (which, now that I've tried, I don't think it ever will), I didn't want it to be without Otterbox protection. Third, a lot of the back roads I ride are pretty rough and I wanted to isolate the bumps from the bumps as much as possible. Fourth, I wanted the phone on the stem of my Giant Anyroad bike because that's where the phone is in the perfect viewing position and because I have extra cross-brake levers on the handlebars and there's no room on the handlebars for a mounted handlebar. Holder. So far I've only ridden 20 miles with the phone in the cradle and mostly smooth roads, but with some bumps and bumps and the phone not only stayed rock solid, it stayed in the same position it was launched in as if it were part of the bike. I'll give another review after I've had a chance to drive on bad roads.
