So matching the top to the bottom is a bit difficult. Filling the top through the "funnel" is fine, but it seems like a mess every time. I've found that I can fill it first and then freeze it and then go back and refill because sometimes the seal between the top and bottom doesn't stay together. Once you freeze it, everyone complains about how difficult it is to actually get the ice cream balls. However, it is true that if I leave them on the table for 7-10 minutes they "melt" just enough to break the seal with the top and pop out easily. bottom line? It takes a lot of work to get a good result, but once you achieve it you will be satisfied. Although it should get better.
