When I was new to Cricut, I didn't order a spatula or scraper with my machine. I thought it was an extra encore. I've tested various household items and even used a butcher knife a couple of times to remove paper cuts from the mat (not recommended). These tools make it easier to lift your designs off the cutting mat and prevent damage to the paper. cuts off when you pass them. The spatula worked far better than any other tool in my kitchen utensil arsenal that I've tried. A worthwhile investment - if you're a Cricut you should add this to your toolbox.
